Day 159/366

The road dwindled away
To a little path stray
Which the traveler in me took.
No remorse or pain
Could be felt in my veins
Despite the cold wind blowing.

Shining on the other end,
Too far out of my reach
Stood the tree of life,
It called to me
With little steps, I approached.

The closer I went,
The farther it seemed
To me it was a failure of sight.
The trick the tree did play on me
Taught me the secret of life.

The push and pull
Too near and far
Opposites born to stay.
Life and death and the quarters of the moon
Revel on an empty stage.
