Day 363/366

Looking back at 2012, it's been a pretty decent year. At least what I remember of it. There has been family time, intensity, inspiration, lack of it, recklessness, highs and lows that have helped me fill the virtual space that this blog has taken up. There have been new people, a hell lot of new music and movies that have entered. There have probably just as many old slots that were unknowingly replaced. I even moved up from DSP Black to Imperial Blue (doesn't help much, but still).

More importantly, I think there's been a certain amount of maturity that has crept in. I got a job, I nearly graduated, I only called in sick once in the last 6 months, I wrote more than I ever have. There are too many people to thank for these things, but I realize that I have to give myself some credit. This is not a self-praise post, mind you. It's just a reminder if/when I stop by and read this, I'll know that I have 3 more to go after this. The blog made me want to be consistent, even in the worst of times. It made me understand how easy it is to add something to your schedule. In the same way, I'm going to let go of this extremely easily because it's just been an addition that I didn't need. Sure, I technically did not have a writer's block for 363 days so far, but it's been painful getting words out at some points of time.

My wine awaits me, and I think I have made the point to myself. I hope so, anyway.

Day 302/366

I produced good news for myself today. I decided to make a book out of all my 366 posts on this blog, which is my #Project366, the only New Year resolution I've ever stuck to in my life. (Don't judge! It's hard to quit certain habits) Funnily enough, it concerns no one but me, because I'm probably not going to be giving it out as an e-book or getting it published. I'm just going to get it bound, get a friend to make an interesting cover for it and voila! it's my first book. There is no logic to this, considering all my writings for the past 302 days are already on this blog. But what if the Internet/digital world crashes on us one day and we are *ahem* forced to go back to the days of reading an actual book. I suppose this idea is just a reminder for me not to forget the real things that inspired me to write in the first place. That charm of a handwritten letter or poem will never fade away; but I'd rather assume that possibility and embrace the chaos attached.

Day 170/366

I had written my 160th post on the 8th of June and had written the OccupyKolkata post on 9th and marked it as Day 160/366 by mistake. The name got changed and there was something wrong with the link and it's not showing anymore. :( I had even tweeted about it ‘Day 160/366 On growing up against your will http://bit.ly/Nm9l0d #Project366' Other than it being a loss of my words, I'm not letting it affect my project. Hence, I'll just rewrite that post now with whatever comes to mind on the topic:

Circumstance driven growing up
An unfair deal of Fate
No point in holding onto it
For the innocence cannot wait.

The inevitable end you see coming
No direction to escape
Against your will, opinions formed
That you must take to the grave.

A surprising sequence of events perhaps
You just didn't see it coming
You'll be a man in my eyes, child
It's all a matter of timing.
