He got it all together with just that one song. The lavender scent filled up the room. Candles burning quietly in a corner. Walking towards me, I saw the smile make an outline around his lips. The lips caught my eye, if only for a fleeting second. Without quite understanding why, I saw myself push back my hair and slowly move my neck, ever so nervously. I looked into the mirror and met my eyes, then his. He finally reached where I stood, holding me by my waist. We looked into the mirror once more, this time, a full smile adorning his pretty face. I found myself swaying to his voice, without quite trying to pay attention to the words he spoke. My mind was only thinking about those lips, softly whispering sweet nothings into my ear, making me giggle like a little girl. He set me free.

Day 326/366
Imagine the dragons coming,
Firing away at sight.
The terror in their eyes,
Just like they said in the books.
The notion of perfection,
Created by writers many,
Personified by only one,
The musical madman.
Watch the candle's flame,
As you pen down your wildest thoughts,
Glowing, as the firefly,
It is the dawn of spring.
Step into strange adventures,
Excavate the future of today,
Watch a dream die a little,
Once again, feel you breathe.
Firing away at sight.
The terror in their eyes,
Just like they said in the books.
The notion of perfection,
Created by writers many,
Personified by only one,
The musical madman.
Watch the candle's flame,
As you pen down your wildest thoughts,
Glowing, as the firefly,
It is the dawn of spring.
Step into strange adventures,
Excavate the future of today,
Watch a dream die a little,
Once again, feel you breathe.

Day 277/366
From one side, he yanked at her heart
Simultaneously, the other man ripped her mind
A little cloud of lustful thoughts
A love castle of of childlike trust.
Share with me your story someday?
After the storm, how we had no time
A match made in heaven, like you say.
Tell me now, I'll hear it all.
I can't remember your voice today,
Was there kindness in your tone?
Did you look me in the eye when we did speak?
Won't you walk in the rain tonight?
I'm scared of what's behind, what's before?
Sing me to sleep, my chosen one,
If we should chance upon a kiss,
Would you lean in?
Would we pretend?

Day 254/366
What a perfect day you could have been,
You became like any other.
What happened to the promised rain?
To the rainbows against the sun?
Such a perfect day this could have been,
If you had said nothing at all
No expectations to keep of you
Our song I could have sung.
Oh! A perfect time this should have been,
Such a realistic portrait drawn,
A sip of wine and maybe cigarettes,
Between the ballroom dance.

Day 224/366
The written word would thrill her still
But the lust for it had gone
To read a novel or book of poetry-
Become too tedious a task.
In her twisted little head,
Was no dearth of fairy tales
But the grown up in her said “No”
Am I literature-dead?
She would ask herself
Without getting a satisfactory reply.
She would dream of new places constantly-
Of travelogues and stranger’s tales,
Of Neruda’s love and postmen,
Of palaces and queens.
When reality would took its ugly form,
And no time was there to read.
She killed herself by letting go
Until she was brain-dead.

Day 219/366
Are you like your father?
Do you resemble your Ma?
What can you say about your culture?
Do you know when you were born?
Be glad you know how old you are
That you weren't born in a garbage bin
That your brother never hit you
That you grew up to see today.
Know that you are lucky
For you were not born still
Someone gave you a name, an identity
You were provided with a home.
There is no space for hate or war.
Why make this into a fight to stay alive?
Why is humanity bent on its own premature death?
You are still breathing.
Remember?
Do you resemble your Ma?
What can you say about your culture?
Do you know when you were born?
Be glad you know how old you are
That you weren't born in a garbage bin
That your brother never hit you
That you grew up to see today.
Know that you are lucky
For you were not born still
Someone gave you a name, an identity
You were provided with a home.

Day 216/366
Shiny, Shiny, Glistening tears in your eye
Do you shy away from the idea-
Of the climax we can reach?
Does it make you lose your senses?
Cold, hot touch
Unfamiliar.
I recite poetry from my heart
As you spit out your insides
You drown in your own screams.
You draw me closer
As you push me away
I know you like it
Though I know you hate.
Carnal desire,
Lustful crime,
Do you want me to continue?
Or must I take your life?

Day 210/366
The colors resounding; mellow blues
A hasty red in a dreamer’s hues.
Describe what each sky is painted with
In the end, what works for you?
Polish the surface,
Rust and teak.
Laze in a pool of dust.
Forget what the world stands for.
Shine as the cleanest boot you’ve seen
Remember darkness grows
Black and gold embroidery
Between the doormat’s folds.
In high rises are the homes so tall,
Despair over each new move.
The rush you could only feel once
When the sand shifts under your toes.

Day 206/366
Disguises of innocence
Trapped along the wall
Somewhere I found myself
Breaking through it all
Unlike what I knew the world to be
Behold the beauty
Truth in its rawest form
Brought out by you
Dream away of infinity
As I sleep in thoughts of hold
Behold the new opportunities
Time's too young
We're getting old.
Trapped along the wall
Somewhere I found myself
Breaking through it all
Unlike what I knew the world to be
Behold the beauty
Truth in its rawest form
Brought out by you
Dream away of infinity
As I sleep in thoughts of hold
Behold the new opportunities

Day 202/366
Describe me to him, she said
Putting her buttons back on
Celebrate what we once shared
Caress me till it's dawn.
Surrender your mind, body, soul
To that one woman's touch
No need to wed, just love's enough
Give her all your heart.
I, the Other woman beseech you
Do not hear my call
I play a twisted hand of lust
Don't become my inevitable fall.
Putting her buttons back on
Celebrate what we once shared
Caress me till it's dawn.
Surrender your mind, body, soul
To that one woman's touch
No need to wed, just love's enough

Don't become my inevitable fall.

Day 201/366
A crispness in the air,
Of fresh basil and walnuts.
The garlic smelled so strong
Through the window it did come.
My nasal instincts took over me.
My legs took me to the food.
There she stood chopping
With her invisible chef hat on.
Unofficial taster of the meal
Best unpaid position ever!
The boons of ready-made munchies-
No high person will ever forget.
Of fresh basil and walnuts.
The garlic smelled so strong
Through the window it did come.
My nasal instincts took over me.
My legs took me to the food.
There she stood chopping
With her invisible chef hat on.

Day 196/366
Too much information flowing in
No space to pour it out
In words my thought begin to shape
In attempt of poor rhymes.
This is the hardest thing to write
As the time flies by too fast
Too slow it was a few hours ago
The time lapsed watching the stars.
To capture this very second now
A big enough net do I lack
The daunting line stuck in my head-
"Time waits for no one".
No space to pour it out
In words my thought begin to shape
In attempt of poor rhymes.
This is the hardest thing to write

Day 193/366
After I die,
If you wish to remember me,
Play that favorite tune
Sing it how you will.
If after I die,
You find out I had a child
Look after her for me
Or read to him sometimes.
Perhaps if I should die
In a way you won't know why
Forgive me for my desire
But do not leave my side.
Eventually I must go
To 'a better place' as they say
I'll wait till you get there
I'll remember us every day.
To die must be awfully strange
But someday I wish to feel
What he went through when he went
To see what he did see.
I suppose I want to die
To be strong when that day does come
Know me for my words
For in them, lies my will.
Still and quiet I lie,
Unlike what you knew me to be
Hold my cold hand now
Bury me to bring me to peace.
If you wish to remember me,
Play that favorite tune
Sing it how you will.
If after I die,
You find out I had a child
Look after her for me
Or read to him sometimes.
Perhaps if I should die

Day 189/366
Atop the tree they sat,
Smoking into the night
Conversation never stopped
Somehow it felt quite right.
Huddled up for hopes of warmth
Though their bodies lacked the signs
Random bouts of forbidden love
As the glowing moon did shine.
The smoothest high went down that night
The most intriguing tales were told
When daylight finally came
They had died to unforgiving cold.

Day 187/366
Desperate departures
Melancholic melodies
Surreal serendipity
Everlasting eccentricities.
Such a wonderful pain stings
As my soul starts to leave me.
I hear the violins play
But can't quite hear their melody.
Away from my perceived reality
Wild horses start to taunt me.
The namesake insomnia rises
Passionflowers surround me.
Must I fall asleep now?
Far and wide my thoughts fly
In my dreams I meet my maker
As I wake, my mind runs dry.
The house of cards comes tumbling down.
Coffee and cigarettes still feel stale
Lest I forgot my little reveries,
I shall not deviate from this trail.

Day 180/366
With the ants as her sole companions,
The silence fell on her precarious life
The rocking chair that she'd fall asleep on
Deeply sunk cushions been sat on too long.
Light found its way in the strangest of rainbows,
Of art and culture the place did reek
She'd let her words soothe her soul
Though promises to herself were impossible to keep.
Amidst the smell of fresh paint
A spirit of the home loomed slow
Nowhere but somewhere she stood and watched
Wrapped in a melancholy glow.
The silence fell on her precarious life
The rocking chair that she'd fall asleep on
Deeply sunk cushions been sat on too long.

Day 178/366
There's an unwillingness to go
But an excitement to finally see
What a career options holds
For an aspiring writer like me.
For years I've waited for this
A chance to prove my worth
Tomorrow's test will finally tell
If of reporters there's a dearth.
Years of writing comes down to this
The job I've hoping for
I'll tell you what fate holds for me
Once I walk out of the editor's door.

Day 172/366
Slowly it falls
Seeking no one's permission
True to the spirit of life
Without taking a break.
Come over when it stops.
Something nice have i prepared
Warmth in its touch
Beauty in its pace.
The long journey has been worth it.
A new place feels known and old.
I saw the lights go dim
And died in this embrace.
Goodbye I must say soon.
New islands I must stay.
Devoid of your former grace
Forever I must grow.
Seeking no one's permission
True to the spirit of life
Without taking a break.
Come over when it stops.

Day 171/366
Have you ever received a letter?
Or a postcard from seven seas away?
If you have, this poem's worth
You just might appreciate.
The pleasure of snail mail
Very few these days do know
A simple but beautiful feeling it is
Of that I'm very sure.
I've had my share of letter writing
With the few penpals I have kept
It's been an unexplainable experience
For it's many levels of depth.
Send me a handwritten note if you will
Sticking the stamp is the most fun.
A reply is all I can guarantee
The receiver's joy too, if you're one.

Day 170/366
I had written my 160th post on the 8th of June and had written the OccupyKolkata post on 9th and marked it as Day 160/366 by mistake. The name got changed and there was something wrong with the link and it's not showing anymore. :( I had even tweeted about it ‘Day 160/366 On growing up against your will http://bit.ly/Nm9l0d #Project366' Other than it being a loss of my words, I'm not letting it affect my project. Hence, I'll just rewrite that post now with whatever comes to mind on the topic:
Circumstance driven growing up
An unfair deal of Fate
No point in holding onto it
For the innocence cannot wait.
The inevitable end you see coming
No direction to escape
Against your will, opinions formed
That you must take to the grave.
A surprising sequence of events perhaps
You just didn't see it coming
You'll be a man in my eyes, child
It's all a matter of timing.
