Day 173/366

Here are some photographs from my recent trip to Shantiniketan:
Clay stick figures that are meant to bring good luck to the house that they're hung in.
Dizzying cane hangings swirling with the monsoon winds.
Her saree was as green as the raw bananas she was selling.
"She walks among the meadow grass
And eats the meadow flowers."
-The Cow, R.L.Stevenson
A free & pure spirit went missing in the urbanized world.
Jhaal muri khete chai?
The magic of monsoon
Beyond the bridge lies the city of Joy!

Day 172/366

Slowly it falls
Seeking no one's permission
True to the spirit of life
Without taking a break.

Come over when it stops.
Something nice have i prepared
Warmth in its touch
Beauty in its pace.

The long journey has been worth it.
A new place feels known and old.
I saw the lights go dim
And died in this embrace.

Goodbye I must say soon.
New islands I must stay.
Devoid of your former grace
Forever I must grow.

Day 78/366

He sang songs of bhakti,
Had many a tale to tell.
The vermilion on his skin,
A man under a spell.

The mystic Baul singer,
With the ghungroo on his feet,
He sang me Ekla Cholo Re
On Tagore's little street.

Go sit beside him and listen,
As he seeks out the truth,
Of the world and religion and space,
Through his ektara or the flute.
